Gum Grafting

Over time, gum tissue can be worn away so that more of the tooth’s roots are exposed; a condition called gum recession.

This can be caused by a predisposition to thin gingival tissue but can also be exacerbated by poor gum hygiene or other factors, such as diet or smoking.

Receding gums that expose the roots of the teeth can increase tooth sensitivity and pain, as well as increasing the risk of root decay or tooth loss. One treatment option available for receding gums is Gum Grafting, where tissue is taken from the roof of your mouth and attached to the areas where your gums have receded.

If your Dentist feels you are suffering from receding gums, our Periodontal Specialist at Bond Dental can assess your gum health and suitability for a Gum Grafting procedure.
